Debut of 5G Technology in Egypt: Historic Achievement for Egyptian Telecommunications

The fifth-generation (5G) technology has made its debut in Egypt for the first time, with the Egyptian Telecommunication Company providing a trial service in five locations, including its headquarters in the Smart Village.

The Egyptian Telecommunication Company obtained a 15-year license to offer 5G services, paying $150 million.

During the company’s press conference at its Smart Village headquarters, the first 5G network in Egypt was showcased.

CEO Mohamed Nasr stated that the company will commercially launch the service in limited areas within 5 months after completing the testing period.

5G is the fifth generation of wireless cellular technology, offering higher download and upload speeds, more consistent connections, and improved capacity compared to previous networks. It is significantly faster and more reliable than current 4G networks, with the ability to transform our internet usage for accessing applications, social networks, and information.

The 5G network can support various applications and expand its scope, including controlling cloud-connected data, connecting unmanned aerial vehicles, video calls, high-quality mobile gaming, global payments, emergency response, remote learning, and mobile workforces. The benefits and applications of 5G are limitless, with the potential to reshape the global economy, work, and people’s lives.
