البنتاغون أعطى الضوء الأخضر لأوكرانيا لمهاجمة أهداف داخل روسيا

قالت صحيفة “التايمز” البريطانية إن البنتاغون وافق ضمنيا على أن تشن أوكرانيا هجمات بعيدة المدى على أهداف داخل روسيا.
وأوضحت الصحيفة البريطانية أن البنتاغون راجع تقييمه لتهديدات العملية العسكرية الروسية في أوكرانيا، شمل ذلك تقييمه لما إذا كانت شحنات الأسلحة المرسلة إلى كييف قد تؤدي إلى مواجهة عسكرية بين روسيا والناتو.
وترى الصحيفة أن موافقة البنتاغون على شن هجمات أوكرانية في العمق الروسي تطور مهم في العملية العسكرية التي استمرت تسعة أشهر بين أوكرانيا وروسيا، كما أنه من المرجح الآن أن تزود واشنطن كييف بأسلحة بعيدة المدى.
في السياق ذاته، صرح مصدر دفاعي أمريكي لـ”لتايمز” قائلا: “ما زلنا مستمرين في وضع حساباتنا للسيناريوهات التصعيدية لكن الخوف من التصعيد تغير منذ البداية، فالأمر الآن مختلف”.
وفي وقت سابق، قالت نائبة وزير الدفاع الأمريكي، كاثلين هيكس، إن الولايات المتحدة لا تواجه مشاكل في الوفاء بمبيعات الأسلحة إلى تايوان بسبب المساعدة الأمنية التي قدمتها إلى أوكرانيا هذا العام.
وأوضحت هيكس خلال تصريحات في منتدى آسبن الأمني، يوم الخميس الماضي: “إن دعم الولايات المتحدة لأوكرانيا لا يؤثر سلبا بأي حال من الأحوال على قدرتنا على توفير أو الوفاء بقضايا المبيعات العسكرية الأجنبية أو دعم تايوان بطريقة أخرى”.
وعلقت هيكس في محاولة لمعالجة التقارير الأخيرة التي تدعي أن الحكومة الأمريكية ومسؤولي الكونغرس يخشون أن يؤدي الصراع في أوكرانيا إلى تفاقم تراكم الأسلحة المتجهة إلى تايوان بقيمة 19 مليار دولار.
